Alice Lippitt, D.V.M.

Born and raised in Kansas, Dr Lippitt earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1984 from Kansas State and is the primary veterinarian at Arkansas Browning Animal Clinic.

After earning her degree, she moved to Texas and started the practice at Arkansas Browning in 1991. In 1996 she teamed up with Dr Mac Todd, a noted animal surgeon and they have been partners ever since (see below). For the most part, Dr Lippitt handles the office visits and medical cases – with help from Dr Buschel – and Dr Todd handles the surgeries.

If you are looking for a doctor with a "heart of gold" who will take excellent care of your pet, look no further. Her staff describe her as kind, giving and generous to a fault. The animals that come here love Dr Lippitt and express this with madly wagging tails and loud purring when they see her – not bad considering it’s a trip to the doctor’s office!

Her kind-hearted attitude is not just limited to the pets. Clients who can’t afford the treatment their pets need often find Dr Lippitt working with them to a remarkable degree. And if some unfortunate animal discovers he’s "on his own" she often comes to the rescue anyway.

A couple of recent examples from the staff:

• DJ, a black and tan mixed breed puppy, was hit by a car and brought in by a neighbor. No owner could be located. Instead of turning DJ over to the shelter (where he most certainly would have been put to sleep), Dr Lippitt did several free surgeries, repaired the damage, got him back on his feet and adopted him out to a loving family.
• Cara and Boyd, 2 mixed breed pups, came in sick with Parvo. The owner said she intended to put them down, as she was either unwilling or unable to pay for the treatment. Dr Lippitt took them in, nursed them both back to health and they are currently up for adoption at the clinic.
• Smokey Joe, a large gray tom cat was brought in by his owner and abandoned at the clinic. His tail had been slammed in a door so hard it was broken and damaged beyond repair. Dr Lippitt amputated the tail, nursed the cat back to health and adopted him out to a loving family with twin boys.

These are just a few examples of this veterinarian’s generosity. The staff estimate that Dr Lippitt has rescued and saved the lives of well over 100 abandoned cats and dogs since she has been here at Arkansas Browning. Most have been adopted out, although occasionally they find a permanent home either with her or at the clinic. Like I said, if you are looking for a vet who will do whatever it takes to care for your animal, you’ve found her.

Dr Lippitt lives in Dallas, is an avid golfer and has 6 dogs, every one of them a "rescue" (of course).

Mac Todd, D.V.M.

Mac grew up in the small south Texas farming/ranching town of San Perlita.  His interest in animals was sparked early in life when he became involved with the local chapters of the FFA and 4H.  He continued his involvement with these organizations throughout high school, eventually leading the local chapter of the FFA as president.  After graduating valedictorian of his high school, he attended Pan American College before transferring to Texas A&M.  At A&M, he completed his Bachelor of Science in 1972, before completing his Doctoral Degree in Veterinary Medicine in 1973.

After graduation Mac worked for several doctors around the state of Texas before settling down in the Fort Worth Area.  He purchased Town and Country Vet Clinic in 1979.  Since then, he has worked with numerous other veterinarians in various partnerships and with the North Texas Humane Society and the Arlington Humane Society in which he is currently serving as president.

Mac has been married to his high school sweetheart, Alice, for almost 40 years and has 3 children, 3 grandchildren, 5 dogs, 4 horses, and 1 very spoiled cat.  Mac enjoys spend his time away from the clinic at his horse ranch in Alvarado.  Besides, horse back riding there, he also enjoys cooking and socializing with his family and friends.

Mike Buschel, D.V.M.

Mike graduated from University of North Texas in Denton.   He attended Texas A&M college of Veterinary Medicine and graduated in 1993.  While in vet school he concentrated on Small Animal Medicine with a strong interest in Internal Medicine.  After graduation, he returned to the DFW area and began working for Town and Country, along with Dr. Todd’s other clinics, in particular our sister clinic in Arlington, Arkansas Browning Animal Clinic.

Mike has worked in small animal medicine for over 15 years, almost exclusively for Dr. Todd’s organization.  He continues to further his education by attending classes and seminars offered by the TVMA, TCVMA, DCVMA, and online classes.

Mike has called Irving his home for the last 30 years and loves the local area.  When not at work, he enjoys watching the local sport teams, traveling, and staying busy with his dogs, Maggie Mae and Lilly.
